Build Shankill Working Group
The BUILD Shankill Working Group first met in February 2021 and those who attend the group provide a range of expertise and insight. The group aims to map, record and publicise information on vacant sites within the Greater Shankill area, as well as identify proposed and potential development work on any of the recorded sites. The group also aims to engage with central and local government authorities on potential development, maintenance and meantime use of sites, and to engage with landowners to promote better management and upkeep of vacant sites. Finally the group aims to engage with government bodies on land use planning proposals, strategies and decisions, including the consultation on Local Development Plans. Underpinning all the work of the group is a commitment to the promotion of community engagement and building awareness and capacity of local communities to engage with public authorities and landowners on development proposals.
